International Encounter of Composers

Concerts in Alcúdia, Palma, Búger and Manacor

The programme of the "XXIII Encontre Internacional de Compositors", organised by the Fundació Aca, began on November 14 at the Teatre Municipal de Palma with a concert by the Trio Aracné. The encounter continues these days in the Auditori d'Alcúdia, within the cycle Per Amor a l'Art.

On November 22, at 9 p.m., at the Fundació Aca de Búger, the company Sueño Limitada will present the poetry show "Un hombre gris avanza por la calle de niebla" and on November 30 also at 8 p.m. also at the Fundació Aca, there will be another poetry and music performance by Julián Ruiz-Bravo and José Ramón Hernández Vich.

On December 11, at 9 p.m., the encounter will move to the Teatre de Manacor where Miquel Estelrich (piano) and Joana Mª Llabrés (soprano) will pay a tribute to the composer from Manacor Antoni Parera Fons. The Fundació Miró in Palma will hold on December 19 at 9 p.m. a concert dedicated to the composers Maties Far and Busevi. And the final concert will be by the Orquestra Simfònica de les Balears on January 30, 2003, at 9 p.m., at the Auditorium of the Conservatori de les Illes Balears in Palma

The programme also features some concerts dedicated to the winners of the contest of young interpreters Art Jove 2002 that will take place in the Fundació Aca de Búger. There will be concerts by Maria del Hoyo Pérez de Rada (piano) and Trio Tríptic (violin, piano and clarinet) on November 29 at 9 p.m.; by the Duet Gandarba (chamber group), Marta Ambrós (piano), Xisco Aguiló (contrabass), Xavier Bonet (saxo) and Mª Victòria Cortès (piano) on December 13 at 8.30 p.m.; Miquel Amengual (trombone); by the chamber group formed by Miquel Amengual (trombone), Joan Amengual (trombone), Guillem Nadal (bass saxhorn), Verónica Rambla (clarinet) and Oscar Campos (piano) on December 14 at 8 p.m.; and the group formed by Carlos Cerdà, Miki Camps, Albert Sierra and Paco Vicedo on December 20 at 9 p.m.

This year the Encounter will go overseas as there will be a concert of Balearic composers in the Festival Aujourd'hui Musique de Perpignan, on November 24 at 8 p.m.
