The biggest hall of the Sa Nostra Cultural Centre in Palma is holding
until February 8, 2003, an anthological exhibition dedicated to Antoni
Gelabert (Palma, 1877 - Deià, 1932), considered to be the principal
referent of the artistic renovation led by the modernism and the most outstanding
Mallorcan artist of the first half of the XX century. The exhibition, commissioned
by José M. Pardo, groups a selection of paintings and drawings by
Gelabert, in a chronological order: "1893-1899 L'art i l'ofici. Anys joves",
"1900-1904 El descobriment d'una identitat. El modernisme", "1905-1909
L'influx del simbolisme. Vers el sintetisme", "1910-1915 Recerca d'un camí.
La visió de la síntesi", "1916.1921 La dualitat difícil.
La forma del color", and "1922-1932 Llums i ombres. Entre Deià i
Pollença".
The Sa Nostra foundation has organised guided visits to the exhibition
on January 9, 16, 23 and 30, at 6:00 h (registration: 971 72 52 10).
More over, the "Sala de Paper" of the Sa Nostra Cultural del Centre
is holding until January 18 the exhibition of photographs by Camilo José
Vergara (Santiago de Xile, 1944) called "
