Tolkien Week on Mallorca

The Centre Cultural la Misericòrdia will house the first Semana Tolkien de Mallorca from January 7 to 12. The event, organised by Tol Eressëa of the delegation on Mallorca of the Sociedad Tolkien Española sponsored by the Consell de Mallorca, intends to pay tribute to John Ronald Reuel Tolkien, the author of the famous trilogy, "Lord of the Rings".

Amongst the programmed events, the Edifici Transparent will house during the Week an exhibition of 40 commented books, a show of miniatures painted by hand that represent a battle, jewellery designed by Marcelo Gody and other objects relating to Tolkien. Meanwhile, on Saturday 11 at 5 p.m. there will be a Cinemaforum about the film adaptation carried out by Peter Jackson and at 7 p.m. there will be a conference dedicated to the influence of Tolkien's work on contemporary music. Finally, on Sunday 12, at 5 p.m. there will be a round table about Tolkien and role games, and at 7 p.m. there will be an introduction to Elf language.
