The fourth edition of the Trobada Músics per la Llengua, organised
by the
Associació Cultural
Músics per la Llengua, will be held in Santa Eugènia
on May 10 and 11. With the protest slogan "Encara som, encara hi
cantam" (We are still here, we are still singing), the Gathering with have
the participation of over 60 groups and soloists from the Balearics who
are committed to their language and culture.
The performances for Saturday 10 will start at 8 p.m. with mainly pop
rock and on Sunday back again at 3 p.m. mainly with composer-singers, folk
and traditional music, although there will be exceptions such as the group
Antònia Font that will perform on Sunday, as on Saturday they will
be giving a concert away from the island.
This new edition coincides with the
IX
Diada Popular per la Llengua i l'Autogovern, organised by the Obra
Cultural Balear (
OCB) that will be
held in Palma next Saturday 10, as from 6 p.m., and with the end of the
Correllengua
2003 organised by
Joves
de Mallorca per la Llengua. For this reason, next Saturday a delegation
of Músics per la Llengua will participate in the Diada to
make the Flame of the Correllengua reach Santa Eugènia, where it
will be taken on to the stage, giving way to the performances. On Sunday
11, in the morning there will be a street parade by the Grallers de Sa
Factoria, who will pass the flame round the streets of Santa Eugènia.
The entrance is free and the precinct will have a camping area and will
also hold the Record in Catalan Fair.
The Trobada Músics per la Llengua was held for the
first
time in Santa Eugènia in November 2000. The
second
edition also took place in Santa Eugènia in March of 2002, after
having been suspended twice due to bad weather. And the
last
Trobada, the third one, was held in October 2002 in Eivissa town.
