The town of Selva will hold this weekend the fourth herb fair, organised
by the promoters of the
Jardí
Medicinal "Ramon Llull" in Selva. Like the three first years, this
agricultural, ecological and cultural fair will include all kinds of activities
relating to herbs: exhibition and sale of products based on herbs, tastings,
conferences about herbs...
The most original part of the fair will be the public distillation of
myrtle water, in the middle of the town square, on Sunday 8 at twelve noon,
within the Fair. The myrtle will have been collected from the woods of
the Caimari Commune, and will be taken to Selva in a decorated cart, accompanied
by the 'xeremiers' musicians. Myrtle water from Mallorca used to be well
known as a cosmetic centuries ago all over Europe. A limited number of
bottles of artisan production of Myrtle water, herb liqueur and Sant Joan
oil will be sold.
