Xocoatl, food of the Gods
The Cultural Centre of the Caixa Foundation, in the old building of the Grand Hotel in the Plaza Weyler in Palma, will house from June 25 to September 14 the exhibition called  "Xocoatl, alimento de los dioses". The exhibition, produced by the Fundación "la Caixa" and commissioned by Maria Mestre, makes a trip through the history of cocoa and its consumption that initiated with the Olmeca, Maya and Azteque cultures, continued with its presentation in Europe in the XVI century and ends with the industrialization process that converts chocolate in a product of the masses.

At the same time as the exhibition, different activities have been organised that will start on June 27 at 8 p.m. with the projection of the film Chocolat, by Lasse Hallström. On Septermber 2 and 3, from 6 to 9 p.m. there will be a cooking workshop.  And finally on September 9 at 8 p.m. there will be a cooking workshop and tasting by the chef Toni Camarón.  Entrance to the film is free and the inscription for the workshops is 6 euros.

Meanwhile, the Caixa Cultural Centre will house until September 14 the exhibition "Abbas. Visiones del Islam".

Entrance to the exhibitions is free and visiting times are from Tuesday to Saturday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.; Sundays and holidays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.; Monday closed.
