La Caixa foundation celebrates a double anniversary

The exhibition "10 years of culture, 100 years of history" will open on Monday, July 28, at 8 p.m., in the headquarters of the "La Caixa" foundation in the Balearic Islands, situated in the old building of the Gran Hotel in Plaza Weyler (Palma). The exhibition is to celebrate the 100 years of the opening of the modernist building designed by Lluís Domènech i Montaner, and the 10 years since the "La Caixa" foundation reopened the building as a cultural centre, in 1993. The exhibition, that can be visited until December 31, is divided in three areas dedicated to the history of the building, the last ten years since it has been managed by la Caixa, and the different stages of the modernism movement.

The day of the opening of the exhibition, three will be a dance show, called "Homenatge a Loïe Fuller", by Amelia Llop, and a concert by the Piscofonies wind quartet.

La Caixa foundation has also programmed guided visits to the exhibition. People interested in taking part in this activity should call telephone number 971178512.

More over, the cultural centre is holding until September 14, the exhibition "Abbas. Visions de l'Islam" and "Xocoatl, aliment del déus"

Entrance is free and the visiting times are from Tuesday to Saturday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sundays and holidays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Mondays closed.
