The operetta "Orfeu als Inferns" (Orpheus in Hades) by
Jacques
Offenbach, coproduced by the
Teatre
Romea from Barcelona,
Fundació
Teatre Principal de Palma,
Govern de les
Illes Balears and
Gran Teatre
del Liceu de Barcelona, will reach Mallorca this weekend. From July
4 to 6 it will be performed in the patio of the Centre Cultural la Misericòrdia
Palma and on July 8 in
sa Màniga
in Cala Millor.
This well known work by Offenbach has passed into posterity because
of the extremely popular Can Can. But "Orfeu als Inferns" has other elements
of interest, such as social protest that puts in evidence the differences
of classes between the poorest and the richest people.
In this version by
El Terrat,
with musical direction by Antoni Parera Fons and stage direction by Joan
Antoni Rechi, a number of Mallorcans are participating, such as Rafel Lladó,
in charge of the stage and costumes, and the actors Eva Barceló,
David Ordinas, Fanny Marí, Jaume Roca and Maia Planas. The cast
also includes the Catalan actors Carles Canut, Mingo Ràfols and
Boris Ruiz.
