Last week at the delegation in Palma of the Spanish Society of Authors,
Composers and Publisher (
SGAE ), the
Mallorcan groups
Xaloc
Música and
Espiral
d'Embulls presented their new records, edited by
Blau.
Xaloc Música's
new record is called "Sort" and it is the fifth one by this group committed
to Mallorcan traditional music. The songs of the new work are boleros,
jotas, fandangos and mateixes. The authors are Pilar Reiona and Marta Elka
Calafell, members of the band together with Tomeu Gomila, Joan Bestard,
Miquel Rigo, Lluís Garcia and Pep Noguera. Hugo Sócrate (percussion)
and Toni Pastor (arrangements) have also participated in the CD. Last weekend
they presented it live in the Parc de la Mar de Palma and on November 1
they will present it in Manresa within the
Fira
d'Espectacles d'Arrel Tradicional.
Espiral d'Embulls's
new record is called "L'edat de Plàstic",
as
we anounced in March, and has the artistic production by Toni Xuclà,
and special collaborations by Pascal Comelade,
Josep
Palau i Fabre and
Sebastià
Alzamora. The axis of this new record, as in
their
first one is poetry by Miquel Àngel Riera, Blai Bonet, Ausiàs
March, Josep Palau i Fabre, Ponç Pons, Joan Brossa, Ovidi Montllor,
David Castillo, Miquel Bauçà, Sebastià Alzamora, Toni
Riera, Bernat Nadal and Sebastià Sansó. The album includes
photos by Toni Catany and hand written lyrics by their authors. It also
includes translations in several languages so that it can be used as a
resource to learn Catalan. The live presentation of the record will be
on October 16 within the
Fira de
Teatre de Manacor. The Espiral d'Embulls band is formed by Neus Salvà,
Joan Miquel, Joana Maria Gomila, Miquel Perelló, Antònia
Bassa, Sebastià Sansó, Bàrbara Riera and Margalida
Riera.
