This weekend, in Palma, the "Festes de la Beata 2003" will take place,
organised by the
Consell de
Mallorca, together with the town Councils of Mallorca, dance groups,
music bands and neighbour's associations.
The street parade known as the "Colcada del carro triomfal de Santa
Catalina Tomàs", that commemorates the beatification of nun Catalina
Tomàs in 1792, is the most important event of this celebration.
The popular processions will begin on Saturday 19 at 7 p.m. in the Passeig
Mallorca and will continue along the following streets: Portugal, Alemanya,
Baró de Pinopar, Via de Roma, La Rambla, La Riera, General Weyler,
Mercat, Unió, Rei Joan Carles I, Jaume III and Passeig Mallorca.
Moreover at 8.30 p.m. there will be a popular dance with music by Aires
des Pla de Marratxí and Carumbau.
