The ninth edition of the "Nits Angleses al Lisboa" series of concerts,
organised by Tomeu Gomila and dedicated to promoting new British artists
from the singer-songwriter movement, will be held on October 23 and 24,
as from 10 p.m., at the Café Lisboa in calle Sant Magí in
Palma. The guest group is
Jackie Leven,
accompanied by the singer Deborah Greenwood.
Jackie Leven began his career in the 70's leading the Doll by Doll new
wave/post-punk band, until 1982, when the group disbanded. Jackie resumed
recording as a solo artist in 1983, but his career was curtailed when he
was almost murdered by strangulation. Unable to speak or sing for some
considerable time, and in exceptional psychological and physical pain,
Jackie began taking heroin. This period of addiction came to an end when
in 1985 he co-founded
The
CORE Trust, an holistic approach to addiction treatment based on Jackie's
own experience. The recovery of his artistic career was in 1994, when he
released "The Mystery Of Love Is Greater Than The Mystery Of Death", produced
by
Cooking Vinyl.
Tickets for the concert cost 8 euros, or 7 if you make a prior reservation
