The World Theatre Day was created in 1961 by the
International Theatre Institute
(ITI). It is celebrated annually on the 27th March by ITI Centres and
the international theatre community. Various national and international
theatre events are organized to mark this occasion. One of the most
important of these is the circulation of the World Theatre Day
International Message traditionally written by a theatre personality of
world stature. The World Theatre Day International Message for the year
2004 has been written by Egyptian dramatist Fathia El Assal.
In Mallorca, on this day, the award Premi Teatre Principal 2003 will be
given. The event will be held at 6.30 p.m. in the Teatre Municipal de
Palma. More information:
