Fiestas for Sant Sebastià in Palma

Activities until Sunday, January 29th.

The Fiestas for Sant Sebastià in Palma, the city's patron saint, started on Saturday, with a street parade, the reading of the official proclamation and a rock concert.

The most popular celebration of the fiestas is the dance for Sant Sebastià, that will take place on Thursday 19, with many performances in different parts of the centre of Palma. The dance will start in the plaza de Espanya at 7.30 p.m. with the bonfire lighting by the mayor of Palma, Catalina Cirer, music by "xeremiers" (bag pipe music) and a performance by Els Castellers de Mallorca (human castles). The concerts in the other squares of the city will begin at 10 p.m. In the plaza Major: Blue Meany, La Musicalité and Malu y Melendi. In the plaza Joan Carles I: The Red Suns, Sloan, Jennifer Gentle and The Soundtrakc of our Lives. In the plaza de Cort: Míticos 70, Los Bravos and Sergio Dalma. In the plaza Sant Francesc: Oxalis, Alpresa and Los Caños. In the plaza Espanya: Anegats, Tutu-Pa and Marc Parrot. In the plaza de Santa Eulàlia: Los Dixielanders, Perikas Jazz Reunion and Doris Cales. And in the plaza del Olivar: Carumbau, Tamarell, Xaloc and Balladors de Lluc.

The programme of activities, organised by the Palma Town Council, includes many other activities until January 29th.
