Sant Pere, patron saint of the fishermen

Sant Pere, patron saint of the fishermen

Fiestas in Alaró, Andratx, Colònia de Sant Pere, Escorca...

Following the summer festive calendar, after the fiestas for Sant Joan, the fiestas for Sant Pere are held, around June 29. And so, these days there will be festivities in Alaró, Andratx, Búger, Colònia de Sant Pere, Escorca, Esporles, Port d'Alcúdia, Port de Sóller, Palma...

The fiestas in Alaró, known as the fiestas of Los Damunt, will begin on Wednesday 28 at 8 p.m. with a street parade. The programme of activities, that includes the traditional cooking fair, will end on Monday, 3rd of July, with a fireworks display.

The main dish of the fiestas in Andratx is the concert by David Civera, Orquesta Ascott and Fenomenos Band on Wednesday 28. But also important is the light operetta "Doña Francisquita" on the 1st, 2nd and 3rd of July.

The municipality of Escorca celebrates its fiestas on Thursday 29 in the old chapel of Sant Pere, with a mass at 7 p.m. followed by a dinner organised by the Town Council.

As for Esporles, the fiestas began on June 23 with the official proclamation of the fiestas, and will continue until July 1 with all sort of activities. Worth stressing is the concert by Laura Dos Santos, Gabriela Giardino and Cap-pela on Wednesday 28.

In the coastal resorts of Colònia de Sant Pere, Port d'Alcúdia and Port de Sollér, the sea is an important element of the fiestas. In the Colònia de Sant Pere, for example, amongst many other activities on Thursday 29, after the mass at 7.00 p.m. there will be the traditional sea procession. And the festivities will continue until July 21 with several open air dances, concerts and other activities.

In Alcúdia, the patron fiesta of the fishermen will also have an outstanding maritime character. So on Thursday 29, day of Sant Pere, there will be a procession on land and sea. A long list of events that will link with the fiestas of La Victoria, on July 1 and 2, complete the programme.

In Sóller, the Sant Pere procession will take place on Wednesday evening, instead of the day of Sant Pere. After the procession there will be open air dance and the activities will end on following Sunday, July 2, with fireworks.

Finally, in Palma, on June 29, there will also be a maritime procession for Sant Pere, organised by the fishermen, leaving from Moll Vell in the port of Palma at 7 p.m.
