Festival of Pollença 2009

Twelve concerts at the Cloister of Sant Domingo.

A new edition of the prestigious Pollença Festival will begin on Firday, July 3, in the Cloister of Sant Domingo in Pollença, with the opening concert by Joan Manuel Serra. The programme for this year includes 12 exceptional concerts until August 29 and once again will have the participation of well known prestigious international artists.

The Festival of Pollença was created in 1962 by the distinguished violinist Philip Newman sponsored by the Pollença Town Council. After his death, the present artistic director, Professor Eugen Prokop, took over until his death in 2005. The Menorcan baritone Joan Pons is now the director of the Festival.

The Festival is a full member of the Association Européenne des Festivals.
