Chopin Festival at the Cartoixa in Valldemossa

From August 9 to 30.

Four concerts and two exhibitions make up the poster for the Festival Chopin 2009 that will present once more some of the best present day pianists at the Valldemossa monastery.

The concerts will take place on the next four Sundays of August, at 10 p.m., featuring performances by pianists Marta Zabaleta (August 9), Nelson Goerner (August 16), Matthias Kirchnereit (August 23), and harpsichordist Silvia Márquez (August 30). The last concert, conducted by Bartomeu Jaume, will also have the participation by Catalina Roig (flute) Pilar Fontalba (oboe), Emili Ferrando (clarinet) Vicenç Balaguer (violin), José Enrique Bouché (cello).

"Piano per a tres" de Horacio Sapere is the exhibition that will open on August 6 in the Carthusian Monastery.

A second exhibition in cell number 3 of the Monastery will remember the composer Jaume Mas Porcel and his relationship with the Valldemossa Chopin Festival.
