Last Monday, January 10, the president of the
Consell de Mallorca, Maria Antònia Munar, signed four collaboration agreements, that
form part of a programme by the Council of Culture and Youth elaborated for this year. Amongst these agreements is the one
signed with Factoria SO of Santa Maria del Cami, that intends to be an instrument to facilitate promotion for new musical groups and
soloists (youngsters between 16/29). According to the councillor, Cecili Buele, on Mallorca there is a large number of musical
groups who are starting (Pop Rock, new tendencies, ethnic music, autochthonous, ...) In all there are over 150 groups. They are
young people who have little resources and via this agreement they will be able to record at a low price, 10,000 pesetas, a CD in a
professional format for promotion. A DEMO of these characteristics can cost between 50 and 500 thousand pesetas.
FACTORIA SO is a non lucrative association that carries out many other formative activities, all connected with music, and well
aware of the musical reality on Mallorca, particularly in the villages.
The other three agreements are with the Cooperativa Granja Escola Jovent, to develop activities connected to the environment; with
the Escola d'Art de Palma, for scholarships to extend studies; and with three student university associations (AIDE, BEI i UEP), to
carry out different activities.
