Since yesterday, Thursday, there have been several modifications on the
Balearic Government's website. From the very first page,
you can suspect the profound renovation of the structural idea of the previous one and the efforts carried out to simplify navigation.
The previous untidy mixture of colours and links on the former front page disappear, offering now only one link too the main sections
of the web. Unfortunately the lateral frame does not disappear, an item that we consider to be completely outdated in a web of these
characteristics, as tit obliges a permanent navigation within the established frame, limiting the field of vision and making it difficult to
link to the specific sections of the web.
The main sections that can be accessed from the front page are:
1.- Organigramme of the Govern: Data base of administrative information with access to all the councils and services. This is the
main novelty and is contained within "System of Information for the Citizen".
2.- Daily information: Official communications, President's page, live and recorded videos, press summaries, guides for
communication media.
3.- The Balearics: Statutes, statistics.
4.- Citizen's Advice Bureau: SIAC, specialised offices, Registry, Casas Baleares, 112.
5.- Other institutions of the Balearics, of the Spanish State, of the European Union and the world.
6.- BOIB: Boletín Oficial de las Islas Balears (official white paper)
7.- Interesting links: Selection of Internet resources of the Balearics.
Unfortunately, the Balearic government continues to misspend the public money maintaining the section Interesting Links, that tries
to compete with the directories and search engines that are dedicated to grouping Internet resources of the Balerics. The section is
in fact strengthened later in the new web, as it also offers the possibility of including one's web pages in the directory, entering in
competition with the firms dedicated to this topic. An analysis should be made to see if the budget destined to the maintenance of
this directory is socially justified and moreover bearing in mind the real needs in Internet material in the Balearics: lack of computers
in the schools and in the administration in general, electronic incommunication between the Govern and the public (only the recently
created President's page is offered) lack of information about the Fairs and Congresses... and above all, the lack of support to the
private initiative and absolute dedication to the interests of traditional means of communication.
