RIU Hotels is promoting on the Canary island of
Fuerteventura an informative campaign pro authochthonous birds in danger of
extinction such as the 'hubaras' and 'corredores', via the issue of practical advice to the clients of their ten hotels (5,000 beds) for
them to collaborate in the survival of these species. In collaboration with their German partner, the tour operator
TUI, and the
European foundation Euronature, 10,000 pamphlets have been published in Spanish and German, called "There is life in the desert!",
which explains the measure to avoid endangering the so called "steppe birds" of Fuerteventura. The very hotel managers explain to
the groups of newly arrived clients the significance of this campaign and ask them to collaborate.
