The "Xeremies" bagpipe and the "xeremiers" players on Internet
The "Xeremies" bagpipe is one of the most traditional musical instruments on Mallorca. The denomination comes from old French, "chalemie" and the instrument descends from the Catalan "sac de gemecs". This and other information relating to the world of the "xeremies" can be consulted in the section that "Gaitas españolas", excellent web page about organology, dedicates to the Xeremies mallorquines.

The web, created by Brenno, a cybernaut mad about these instruments, contains information about the history of the "xeremia", the description of the different parts of the instrument and the photograph of a "colla" (players) formed by Toni Roig (xeremia) and Pep Rotger (pipe and drum). There is also other interesting information, such as details of the three "xereimes" makers remaining on Mallorca, Pep Toni Rubio from Calvià, Tomeu Bestard Massat from Binissalem and Pep Rotger from Inca, bibliography and discography about the subject, schools and a list of different "xeremiers" in different "colles" in Palma, Algaida, Artà, Binissalem, Búger, Bunyola, Sa Cabaneta, Campos, Felanitx, Inca, Llubí, Manacor, Pina, Sa Pobla, Porreres, Portol, Sant Joan, Sant Llorenç, Santa Eugenia, Santa Maria del Camí, Sencelles, Sineu, Sóller, Son Carrió and Vilafranca.
