The magazine
Salut i Força publishes in its latest number an interesting interview with Joana Maria Román, head of the Paediatric
Department of the Hospital Son Dureta.
Her designation, in December last year, as the secretary for the Royal Academy of Medicine and Surgery, has been until now, her
latest victory in a traditionally masculine institution. To hold this post represents the end in Spain of one of the obstacles that still
impeded the promotion of women, but this victory is not a new one in her biography, because Joana Maria Román has spent her life
opening pathways and knocking down barriers, something that has made her give up many of life's little pleasures and to dedicate
herself entirely to a task that has also brought her great satisfaction.
