GOB: Park Platform and Pamphlets in favour of the Arta Park

The GOB has decided to create a Platform of entities and association in favour of the natural parks. The objective of the Platform is based on contributing to the creation of natural parks both in the Serra de Tramuntana and the Serra de Llevant, and to carry out a group of activities (democratic and pacific) in favour of their creation.

The ecological association will start the necessary activities to promote this new Platform and at the same time to acquire support from the different groups, especially in the affected municipalities.

According to the GOB: "The controversy provoked in the last few months due to the planning of the Regulation Plan for Natural Resources (PORN) and the possible approval of natural parks in the municipalities of the Serra Tramuntana and the towns of Llevant need a more peaceful and calm citizens' debate, and a more intense informative effort.

In this sense, the GOB has edited 5,000 informative pamphlets about the PORN of the Arta peninsula and about the possible declaration of one or more protected areas in this area, that will be distributed as from this week in the affected towns.

In the text they offer precedents on the subject, that belie the principal arguments against the creation of new natural parks and they state a series of arguments in favour of the conservation as a tool to avoid environment, economic and social degradation of the natural areas.
