The
chat held on Thursday night, connected to the
WEB 2000 Prize organised by MallorcaWeb, gathered together some 20
cybernauts, amongst whom were representatives of the competing webs, plus other users who are not participating in the contest,
but who had wished to participate actively in it, supplying their opinions about the webs presented to the contest.
For an hour and a half, the different participants in the chat dealt with very varied subjects such as the factors to bear in mind when
evaluating the webs (design, structure, content, language, friendship...) and also more personal topics about the authors of the
different webs (origin, age, hobbies...). In general, the chat proceeded in a friendly tone and no intervention by the moderator was
needed.
As for the analysis of the participating webs, different topics were considered, as the advantages and disadvantages of the use of the
Flash technique; the options offered to us by other languages and applications such as the JavaScript, the style sheets, the
DHTML.... and also the difference between the webs described as utilities -- that require more simplicity and agility --, in contrary to
the more recreational webs -- where design and presentation acquire greater protagonism.
All the participants agreed to repeat the experience of the
chat, and even to arrange a physical meeting, to keep contact and
continue the dialogue and exchange of information.
