Over 50,000 titles at the "Book Fair"
The XVIII Book Fair, opened last Friday with a "Town Cry" by the Mallorcan writer, Pere Morey i Servera, and the words by the President of the Mallorcan Council, Maria Antònia Munar, will stay open all this week, in the Paseo del Born. Over 50,000 titles from over 1,500 editors will exhibit on 97 stands installed in the Born, in which 22 book shops, 2 distributors, 58 publishers, 5 credit sales firms, 1 insurance firms and 6 official organisations will be represented. The show will be complemented by a full programme of activities that include presentations, book signings, debates and chats.

Amongst the activities programmed this week, is a round table by the Association of Catalan Writers, called "Writing on the Islands", which will take place on July 2 at 8 p.m. On Sunday, June 4, the last day of the Fair, the "Day of Bargains and Second Hand Books" will be held.

The fair, organised by the Bookkeepers Guild and the Balearic Fairs and Congresses, has the sponsorship of the Mallorcan Council and the collaboration of the Balearic Government and Palma Town Council.
