A group of investigators from the
Centro de estudios de Derecho e Informática de Baleares (CEDIB) of the UIB, led by the Professor
for Civil Law, Santiago Cavanillas, is working on the project
E-CLIP that deals with the legal aspects of electronic commerce,
together with four other investigating centres of different States of the EU. This project is financed by the
European Commission
with 1.5 million Euros and has the main objective of increasing knowledge in this field, indicating the possible legal, extralegal or
technical solutions that could be of interest.
For this reason, E-CLIP will offer open teaching programmes (at a distance) and other practical tools and action guides for all those
who work in this innovating and dynamic area (for example they will carry out a
summer course on the legal aspects of electronic
commerce in Palma, the first week of October, in which European experts in the matter will participate). What is more, "forums" will
be organised to attend to the different points of view.
E-CLIP II, has started this year, after the success of E-CLIP I, in which our University participated actively in the harmonisation of
national policies in this field, with a view to improving the conditions of the development of electronic commerce in the EU . Many of
the proposals by E-CLIP were adopted in the
directive about electronic commerce in the European Union.
