"VI Day for language and self government"

The Obra Cultural Balear is organising this year for the sixth consecutive year, the La Diada per la Llengua i l'Autogovern", with the view to demanding the normal use of Catalan in all the fields of our society and to stop the drop in its use in the Balearics. The great fiesta with the slogan “Junts per la Llengua”, (together for the language) will be held on Saturday, May 20, at Ses Voltes (Pac de la Mar) in Palma.

Within a proposal called "Mani-Festa-Acció", a full programme has been prepared of events that will start at 5 p.m. There will be different work shops, an exhibition of products labelled in Catalan, musical performances, shows, popular dancing... a long etcetera of activities to enjoy an amusing and entertaining afternoon and evening but at the same time with a purpose. At 7 p.m. the great concentration with call on the institutions and public to become definitely involved in the defence of the Catalan language.

The fiesta will have the participation of starts of the children's TV programmes, such as from Club Super 3, Tomàtic, Ruïnosa, Bibiana, or Doraemon, Nobita amd Guai who will certainly amuse the youngest. On May 20 there will also be the great concert, "Rock & Llengua" that will take place in Palma at the Bull Ring from 8 p.m. with performances by Sopa de Cabra, Ja t’ho diré, Fora des Sembrat, Antònia Font, Marisa Rojas and Mal vici. There will be coaches between the Parc de la Mar and the Bull Ring.
