The association
ARTS, Cultural Services, together with the
Mallorcan
Council and the
Palma Town Council, are organising the concert "Cantates
Profanes" to remember the composers, Lliteres and Bach, that will take
place on Monday, July 3 at 10 p.m. at the Bellver Castle. The recital
will have the exceptional performance of the soprano Teresa Vert, the
baritone Pau Bordas, the oboe soloist Juan Rodríguez and the musical
group Grup Instrumental, directed by Lluís Remartínez.
The programme includes two parts: in the first, the Concert for oboe
and strings BWV 1056 by J. S. Bach and the Cantata "Ha del rústico" by
A. Lliteres; in the second part, the musicians will interpret
Bauern-Kantate BWV 212 by J. S. Bach.
This year sees 250 years since the death of
J.S. Bach and throughout
2000 the great composer has and will draw the attention of music
lovers. Therefore, the association ARTS and other institutions and
musical organisations, have offered over the last few months, different
musical events dedicated to the German genius. In the publication
Pòrtula of Marratxí an article about J.S. Bach's work "
Any 2000, any
Bach" can be found.
Antoni Lliteres i Carrió was born in Artà in 1673. He is one of the
most notable musicians of his era both in the religious and non religious
fields. He is the most important one in Spanish baroque music, and
possibly the most important Mallorcan musician ever. In the past few
years, many concerts and recordings of his work have been made. In May
1999, the
Teatre Principal offered the full performance of "Acis and
Galatea", one of the greatest operettas written by the composer.
