Sociocultural and Sports Games of the Mediterranean

Nearly 400 Mallorcans over 65, integrated in the programmes "Gent Gran" organised by the Mallorcan Council, will participate between November 23 and 26, in the first Sociocultural and Sports Games of the Mediterranean, that will be held in Alguer (Sardinia). The games have been promoted by the Mallorcan Council, the Provincial Diputation of Sardinia and the Alguer Town Council, with the support of the president of the International Olympic Committee (COI), Joan Antoni Samaranch.

This year there will be participants from Spain, Italy, France and Andorra, and, according to the Mallorcan Council, at present they are working towards holding the second edition of the Games in 2003 in Palma.
