Binissalem: XXXVI Wine Harvest Festival
On Monday the events to celebrate the XXXVI Festa des Vermar started in Binissalem, and these will continue until September 30 although the official programme is from 16 to 24.

La "Vermada" (harvest), that is celebrated every year at the end of September, when the grapes are picked, is the most important festival in Binissalem. The whole character of this town from the Raiguer, emerges into the street; "fideus de vermar" (harvest pasta), street parades, dances and, above all, wine, will accompany this great fiesta of the people from Binissalem.

The programme includes a wide range of activities that include: exhibitions, performances, "glosses" (rhymes), demonstrations, sport, and a long etcetera. A great part of the events is related directly to the wine harvest, such as wine tasting, grape pressing by feet competition, the spectacular poetic musical in the wine cellar Vins Nadal, the photographic exhibition "Temes de la Vinya, el Vi i la Verema", the dinner of "fideus de vermar" at Can Arabí, and the float parade "Vermada 2000."

The central events of the "Festa des Vermar" will take place on Sunday, September 24 when the VII Vermar Fair and the Mass will be held; followed by the competition of the grapes, the offering "Ofrena a Nostra Senyora de Robines del Most Novell", and the performance by the folk group Tall de Vermadors. The fiesta will continue all Sunday with Havaneres (Cuban songs), street parades, human towers and to finish, the popular dance with Al Mayurca, Tracalada and Caliu.
