The Auditorium
Sa Māniga in Cala Millor (Sant Llorenį) will hold this
coming autumn an exhibition "Paintings of birds in Mallorca", by Michael
Warren, dedicated to the birds of Mallorca. The inauguration will take
place on Saturday, September 23 at 8.30 p.m. and the exhibition can be
visited until December 2, from Tuesday to Saturday between 6 and 9 p.m.
Michael Warren lives in Nottinghamshire (England) and studied at the
Faculty of Art in Wolverhampton. He has dedicated full time to
painting since 1972 and has developed his art in parallel with his bird
watching. All his work is based on his field observations. His first
paintings paid more attention to the decorative background, although
this emphasis has gradually given way to greater realism. Michael
Warren has studied the birds of Great Britain, U.S.A. and the whole of
Europe, in the Pacific and Africa.
As a complement to the exhibition other activities will take place: a
commented visit by the artist in English, with simultaneous translation
in Catalan on September 27 at 8.30 p.m.; the conference "Impacte del
turisme sobre el medi ambient" by Dr. Maciā Blāzquez Salom, professor of
the department of
Earth Science of the Balearic University, that will
take place on October 6, at 8.30 p.m.
