The "Museu Nacional d'Art de Catalunya" (
MNAC) is showing as from
Wednesday September 20 the exhibition by the prestigious Mallorcan
photographer, Toni Catany, called "
Toni Catany". The artist in his
paradise".
The exhibit, comprising 160 photographs, is a retrospective tour by the
Mallorcan artist through his most important series. From his first
calotypes in 1979, to the present transferred Polaroids, passing through
still life, masculine nudes, archaeological views of the Mediterranean
and portraits.
Toni Catany has published until now four books of images, that have made
him one of the most interesting authors of contemporary photography.
For this exhibit, Lunwerg Editores will publish a catalogue with the
reproduction of all the photographs in the exhibition with texts by
Pierre Borhan, Toni Catany and Alain D'Hooghe.
The commissioners of the exhibition, that can be visited until December
3, are David Balsells and Pierre Borhan.
The exhibitions has the support of the Balearic
Department for Education
and Culture within its programme for the exterior projection of Balearic
Culture. The Councillor, Damià Pons, attended the opening ceremony on
Wednesday.
