"Who's afraid of Virginia Woolf?" at the Teatre Principal
*** PERFORMANCES SUSPENDED ***
(Update: 02/10/2000)

The Teatre Principal in Palma will be the scene for the famous Northamerican play by Edward Albee, "¿Quién teme a Virgina Woolf?" (Who's afraid of Virginia Woolf?) from October 6 to 15. The version is directed by Adolfo Marsillach who also starts in the play with Nuria Espert.

This play became popular in the 60s, when Mike Nichols made a film of it starring the popular couple, Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton. It narrates the particularly crude argument between a middle aged couple due to the invitation of a younger couple to dinner at their home.

The production, produced by Juanjo Seoane, makes use of the argument to analyse personal relationships, the hypocrisy of the North American society of the sixties, the confusion of the western world, the exhaustion of the capitalist system, the destruction of dreams....
