The Contemporary Spanish Art Museum of Palma (
Juan March Foundation)
will hold from October 24, 2000 till January 13, 2001 the exhibition
"Sempere, Paisatges" (Sempere, landscapes.) The exhibit comprises a
total of 39 works (20 Guaches, 18 silkscreen prints and a collages)
carried out by Eusebio Sempere between 1960 and 1981.
Linked to the so called optic-cynetic art, Eusebio Sempere (1923-1985)
was one of the artists who renovated the Spanish artistic panorama of the
second half of the XX century. The artist used geometrism in his
gouaches of the 50s, in his silkscreen prints and "luminous relief"; in
his paintings of the early 60s; and in his great metallic sculptures and
collages with different superimposed planes, like lattices.
Sempere, also carried out scenography and window displays and
collaborated in vanguardist projects with musicians such as Luis de
Pablo and the Grupo ALEA.
