The Teatre Principal will hold from October 19 to 22 the production "Fi
de Partida" ("Endgame") by Samuel Beckett, produced by the
Balearic
Government together with the
Mallorcan Council and
Teatre Principal, and
directed by the Rumanian, Gábor Tompa, with a technical and artistic
team from the Balearics.
Last April, Gábor Tompa, an internationally well-known director, carried
out the
casting to select the actors for the production in the Teatre
Principal. Both the casting and the following rehearsals, which also
took place in the Teatre Principal, provoked great expectation,
obtaining not only an important participation from the actors of the
Islands but also great attention from the media.
The play
premiered on June 8 at the Festival of Sitges 2000, within the
exterior projection of the Balearics by the
General Direction for
Culture of the Balearic Government.
Now, for the first time, we can see in Mallorca the production, "Fi de
Partida" that explains the story of two couples locked in an isolated
interior space, who express the final that never comes. The useless
waiting, the horror of time, the temporality, in short, Beckett's
obsessions are some of the topics analysed in the play.
