The singer
Dounia Hédreville
will perform on Tuesday, November 14 at
the
Teatre
Principal. The concert is part of the XXI Encontre
Internacional de Compositors. Festival Illa de Mallorca, organised by the
Fundació Àrea Creació Acústica (ACA), that includes a wide programme of
concerts that will continue until the coming December 5, 2000.
Born in Paris, with a Caribean father and Spanish mother, Dounia started her musical career with her father, a saxophonist who
played jazz, zouk and Caribean folkmusic. In Mallorca she studied singing for five years with the soprano, Catalina Negre, and
has not stopped studying and experimenting with different styles of interpretation. She has participated as the singer in various
musical groups; and at present, as a soloist, combining religious and African songs, vocal sounds.... She has a great vitality and
a charming voice, with an extraordinary curriculum that includes singing, musical composing, theatre and teaching.
The Teatre Principal will be the scene of the Gathering of Composers
for the whole week.
