The
GOB and
WWF Adena, in their campaign for the protection of the Serra
de Tramuntana, have edited 10,000 informative leaflets that will be
distributed particularly by the municipalities of the Serra and among
the collectives that have most connection with this topic.
According to the promotors of the campaign, the protection of the
natural areas assures the survival of environmental, cultural and scenic
values of a particular territory. Tourism, and in general recreational
activities, can promote a new source of income for the public who have
always lived in these areas, improving their quality of life and
wellbeing. But certain kinds of activities, above all according to how
they are carried out, can end up destroying these natural area, which
can cause the destruction of this heritage, and the degradation of its
attraction. Therefore, they are requesting the Balearic Government
certain action to obtain the balance between leisure and conservation,
such as the edition and approval of a Plan for the Control of Natural
Resources (PORN) for the Serra de Tramuntana, or the adoption of
measures that will guarantee the continuity of the traditional
economical activities that respect the surroundings.
