New web by the "Arxiu del Regne de Mallorca"
The process that will lead to the creation of the Files of the Kingdom of Mallorca started in 1229 when Jaume I, king of the Crown of Aragón, carried out the initiative to conquer Mallorca, thanks to the sharement agrrement with a group of nobles.

The new kingdom of Mallorca received a legal and political structure in 1230 with the declaration of the Carta de Franquesa. The planning of the land was also shared between the king and the magnates who participated in the conquest, which gave rise to the publication of the "repartiments".

In 1585, the Gran i General Consell decided formally to constitute the "Arxiu de la Universitat de la Ciutat i Regne de Mallorca".

The ownership of the "Arxiu del Regne de Mallorca", located at present in C/ Ramon Llull, 3 in Palma, corresponds to the State, via the Ministerio de Educación, Cultura y Deporte and its administration depends on the Department of Education and Culture of the Balearic Government.
