Next Friday, November 17 at the Multicines Portopi in Palma, the film
"Tatawo" will premiere, within the programme "
Cimema en català a les
Illes Balears" encouraged by the
General Direction for Linguistic Policy of
the Department of Education and Culture of the Govern.
This is the first full feature film directed by Jo Sol (Jordi Soler)
from Barcelona, produced by Jordi Rediu and starring Alexis Valdés,
Mercedes Ortega, Paulina Gálvez, Miguel Molina and Elsa Pataky, among
others.
The story is situated in the blue light district of Barcelona, namely in
the bar Tatawo, where Simona shows her tattooed body and offers her work
as a tattoo artist. The owner of the bar has an unconfessable desire
for the young girl, although she is still in love with the man who
tattooed her and left her.
The intention of the director of the film has been to create a melodrama
with adult feelings, but in a youthful context, which contains
"piercings" and tattoos. The use of tattoos implies an identification
with something that, like love, is for ever.
