Vilafranca will celebrate in December the "Cultural Week" and the "Festes de Santa Bārbara" in honour of the patron saint of
the town.
The programme of festivities, that includes a wide range of sports and cultural events, starts on Friday, December 1, and will
last until New Year's Eve, although the central events of the "Festes de Santa Bārbara" take place around December 4, the
Saint's Day.
Therefore, according to tradition, on Monday, December 4, there will be 'bunyolada" (doughnuts) for everyone. To make this
possible, during the day, nearly all the inhabitants of Vilafranca will participate in the preparation of the doughnuts that will take
place as from 10 a.m. in the Rectory. In the evening, at 8 p.m. in the local church there will be the official mass for Santa
Barbara and the traditional "Ball de l'Oferta - Vilafranca Balla i Bota". Finally the 'bunyolada' will take place outside the
church.
