Christmas Concerts

Throughout December there will be Christmas concerts all over the Island. In Palma, amongst others, worth mentioning is the traditional Christmas Concert by the Balearic University Choir and filial choirs, at the Auditorium in Palma on December 17 at 12 noon, conducted by Joan Company. On the same Sunday, at 5 p.m. the Basilica de Sant Francesc will hold the "Trobada de Nadal de la Federació de Corals", that will interpret the "Marxa dels Reis" by F. Perret. Special attention must also be given to the concert by the group Florilegium in the same Basilica de Sant Francesc, on Tuesday December 19 at 9 p.m., performing works by J. S. Bach.

Works by Back will also be present in two Christmas concerts by Camerata "Sa Nostra" in the Auditorium of the Cultural Centre in Calle Concepción in Palma: the first with the English soprano, Kim Amps, that will take place on December 22 at 8 p.m. and the second on Friday 29, at the same time.

In other parts of Mallorca, the Christmas concerts will start earlier. So next Sunday, 10th, in the parish church of Andratx there will be the "Trobada de Nadal de la Federació de Corals", that will include the "Marxa dels Reis" by F. Perret. This gathering of choirs will also take place on Saturday 16th at the Santa Maria la Major Church in Inca, and on Saturday 23 at the Parish Church of Arta. All the concerts will start at 5 p.m.

In Calvia, within the activities Cultural Christmas that the Town Council has prepared, there will be a Christmas concert by the Municipal Band and Children's Choir on 16th at 8.15 p.m. in the Parish Church. Also on December 22 the "Festa de l'Escola Municipal de Música", will be held with musical performances by the pupils.

The Alcudia Auditorium will be the scene of the "School Carol Concert" on 19, 20 and 21, with the participation of the pupils of the schools of Alcudia; and on Friday 22 at 7 p.m. there will be the Christmas Concert by the pupils of the Alcudia Municipal School of Music. Meanwhile on Saturday 23, at 9 p.m. within the programme of "Winter in Mallorca" there will be a Carol Concert in the Auditorium by the Choirs of the Teatre Principal.
