Music will be the star at the Auditōrium Sa Māniga de
Cala Millor (Sant Llorenį), in February. The programme for
the month will include, besides other cultural activities, five concerts
within the programme "
Winter
in Mallorca".
On Thursday, February 1, at 8.30 p.m. the duo on viola and piano formed
by Dorothee Krost and Wiebke V. Eikeren will offer a chamber music
concert. D. Krost and W. V. Eikeren have been working together in
music since 1982. They studied at the Hamburger Musikhocshule
and collaborate with orchestras such as the Düsseldorfer Symphonikern
and the Hamburger Mozart orchestras.
On Saturday, February 10, at 8.30 p.m. the Orquestra Illa de Mallorca
and Cor Studium Aureum will interpret the Nelson Mass. The chamber
orchestra "Illa de Mallorca", sponsored by the Balearic
Department
of Tourism, is the official orchestra for the music festival "
Winter
on Mallorca". The components are musicians of different nationalities
and experience in different European orchestras. The chamber choir
"Studium Aureum" offered its first concert in May 1983. The group
has worked intensely in the field of baroque music. Carles Ponseti
Verdaguer is their founder and conductor.
There will also be concerts at Sa Māniga on February 18, by the
Basler Festival Ensemble; on 22nd, with the pianist Belina Kostadinova;
and on the 24th, with the scenic show and musical by Studium Aureum.
