Fiction Short films

The General Direction for Linguistic Policy of the Department of Education and Culture of the Balearics announced last month the "I Contest for fiction short films, original version in Catalan".

The contest, that will take place on 15, 15 and 17 of this months, as from 7 p.m. at the "Sa Nostra Cultural Centre Auditorium in Palma, has a first prize of 500,000 ptas and second prize of 250,000 ptas.

Some twenty short films have been presented in this first edition in Betacam format of less than 30 minutes. All the works presented have been created since January 1, 1998.

The members of the jury include the writer, Biel Mesquida, the directors Agustí Villaronga and Antoni Aly, the actor Simó Andreu and the film critic, Josep A. Pérez de Mendiola.
