FAO: recent outbreaks of Foot-and-Mouth disease urgently require international action
"The rapid spread of a pandemic strain of Foot-and-Mouth Disease
(FMD) clearly demonstrates the ability of the FMD virus to infiltrate a
wide geographic area and to cause epidemics in countries which have been
free from the disease for many years," the UN Food and Agriculture Organization
(
FAO) said in a statement issued on Wednesday.
