Centre for Rural Initiatives "Mallorca Verda"

On May 4 at 8.30 p.m, the organisation "Mallorca Verda" will open the "Centre d'Iniciatives Rurals Mallorca Verda", situated in the Palma Manacor road, No. 34 of Vilafranca de Bonany.

"Mallorca Verda" was started by the Associació per a la Defensa de Mallorca and the Unió de Pagesos de Mallorca and their objectives are the promotion of all kinds of initiatives that can favour the sustainable rural development.

At the "Centre d'Iniciatives Rurals Mallorca Verda" there will be an information office, a shop with products of Mallorca and a classroom for training in rural development, that intends to be a pioneer in all kinds of initiatives aimed at giving the maximum added value to products of the land and rural heritage, using the traditional resources derived from home tasks (preserves, sausages, prepared foods, almond sweets, rural accommodation, etc.), promoting the new technologies and informing about European funds. The main objective of the new centre is to set up contacts and make the small Mallorcan agricultural properties that are cultivated part time, profitable as these represent 80% of the land on the island dedicated to agriculture.
