By resolution 2994 (XXVII) of 15 December 1972, the General Assembly
designated 5 June as World Environment Day to deepen public awareness of
the need to preserve and enhance the environment. That date recalls the
opening day of the United Nations Conference on the Human Environment (Stockholm,
1972), which led to the establishment of the United Nations Environment
Programme (UNEP).
Coinciding with this celebration the
Conselleria
de Medi Ambient of the Balearic Government has organised on the quay
of the Moll de sa Llotja in Palma the "II Fira de Medi Ambient", that will
be held on June 1, 2 and 3. The Fair will include boat trips round
the bay of Palma, workshops for compost, activities in the mobile classroom
for environment education, demonstrations of renewable energy, fair commerce
products and ecological agriculture.

- Saturday, June 2 from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.
