Andratx, Santa Eugènia, Santa Margalida, Santa Maria del Camí
and Muro have celebrated in April the traditional spring fairs. In May
the fairs continue in different villages of the island. Last Sunday, May
6, the Sineu Fair was held, it is considered to be the oldest country fair
in Mallorca. Next Sunday, May 13 the fairs of Sóller, Lloret de
Vistalegre, Campos and Felanitx will be held.
The programme of the "Fira de Maig de Felanitx" (May Fair in Felanitx)
starts on Wednesday, May 9 at 9.30pm at the Casa de Cultura, with an opening
concert of the XXV Music Week, by S'Estol des Gerricó. On Friday
11, at 9.30pm a second concert of the Music Week will be held at
the Casa de Cultura, by the Pericas Jazz Group. On Saturday 12 from 10am
in the Plaza Rei En Jaume II, there will be a an exhibition of handmade
lace.
On Sunday 13, the Fair will be open all day in the centre of the village,
including, amongst others, a craft exhibition. At 7pm at the Casa de Cultura,
the Medal of the City of Felanitx will be presented to the historian Ramon
Rosselló i Vaquer, and at 9.30pm there will be a concert by the
Jazz'ta Big Band.
During the days of the fair an exhibition by Mònica Gonzàlez
will be held at the Casa de Cultura, including paintings, sculptures and
photographs.
