The patron saint festivities for Esporles "Sant Pere 2001" started
on Sunday 24, with the traditional street parade and the proclamation,
this year by Bartomeu Rotger. The fiestas will continue all week
with a wide range of activities for all tastes: sporting competitions,
work shops, exhibitions, theatre...
Amongst the proposals is the "Open Doors Day at
IMEDEA",
today as from 6.30 p.m. and the "Grand Antique Auction" organised by the
Gremi d'Antiquaris de les Illes Balears in collaboration with the
Esporles
Town Hall, that will take place on Sunday, July 1 at 7 p.m. at the
Casa des Poble.
Also worth mentioning is the "Nit de Foc" (Night of Fire) by
Iguana
Teatre that will be held on Thursday, June 28 as from 10.30 p.m. followed
by the dance with s'Arrual Jazz Mort.
On Friday 29 there will be street dinner and the "Verbena Patxanguera"
with performances by the groups Collage, Massot Orquestra and Lolos Band.
This week there will also be festivities in honour of Saint Peter at
Alaró, Andratx, Búger, Colònia de Sant Pere, Esporles,
Port d'Alcúdia, Port de Sóller... In the Port de Pollença
Sant Pere is held, although not so intensely as the festivities for the
Verge del Carme (Our Lady of Carmel) that take place in July.
