Fiestas de Sant Pere in Andratx

The Fiestas de Sant Pere in Andratx, the town's patron saint, started last Saturday June 16 with different sporting and cultural activities, including the IX trip round the Dragonera in canoe, and the representation of the operetta "Gigantes y Cabezudos", with the participation of the Municipal Choir, the Children's Choir, the Dancers of Andratx and the Juvenile Choir of the Teatre Principal plus guest artists.

On June 28 amongst other programmed activities, at the Town Hall at 7.30 p.m. is the traditional proclamation this year by Maties Ensenyat Massot, Merchant Marine Captain. Followed by the prize giving of the different cultural competitions, plus the opening of the exhibitions of paintings and ceramics of the "Vila d'Andratx" competitions, Adult school, photograph marathon, etc. At 11 p.m. the popular dance with Sirex and Mustang, two of the most emblematic groups of the sixties.

Friday June 29, Saint Peter's day, mass at 11 a.m., puppet show at 6 p.m. in the Plaça de España. At 11 p.m. in the Calle Catalunya the "Festa Jove" with Javi y Ana, Antònia Font, La Gran Orquesta Republicana... and the local group Peligro Social.

Saturday June 30 the prize giving for the most important sports people of the municipality, at 7 p.m. in the sports centre. At 10 p.m. in Calle Catalunya Spanish Festival and at 11 p.m. ballroom dancing with Oasis, Sabor Latino and Horris Kamoi.

Sunday July 1 at 9 p.m. there will be Mallorcan dancing at Son Mas by Aires d'Andratx and at 9.30 p.m. Grand Fideua Supper, with Luna 70 and followed by fireworks.

The events will finish on Monday July 2 with the Pensioners' Party at Son Mas at 8 p.m.
