Fiestas for "Saint James" in Algaida

Fiestas for "Saint James" in Algaida
Algaida will celebrate between July 8 and 29 the  "Festes de Sant Jaume 2001", with a complete programme organised by the Town Hall that includes activities for all ages, particularly those that seek direct participation by the public.

Sport, music, theatre, films, photography, exhibitions, workshops, games, treasurehunts, etc. form the festive proposal for Sant Jaume with the collaboration from different entities and social, cultural and sports associations of the town.

This year there will be two evening dances with the performance by some of the most sought after Mallorcan groups for summer evenings:  Tumbet de Solfa, Filharmònica de son Reus and Orquestra Xalesta, on Saturday 21; and the Orquestrina d'Algaida, Orquestra Miquel Massot and Lolos Band, on Tuesday 24.

There will also be the second edition of the al fresco dinner, on Friday July 20, which will coincide with the humorous treasure hunt, organised by the Youth Club and Titoieta Ràdio.

Els cossiers, once again, will be the centre of attention for the festivities, when they dance "el quadrat" the eve of Sant Jaume, on July 24, and the following day, Wednesday 25, when they dance the offertory in the mas and afterwards dance in the church square.

All events free entry.
