This Friday, the "Festes de la Verge del Carme" in Port d'Andratx will
start, and will last four days, until Monday July 16, the Saint's day.
The programme includes a wide range of ludic, sports and cultural activities
for all ages.
On Friday, amongst other activities: an optimist regatta organised by
the Club de Vela (11 a.m.), children's games by Club d'Esplai Garrafa (5.30
p.m.), beach voleyball (7 p.m.), a demonstration of Spinning by Slastic
Gym from Andratx and Olímpic from Palma (9 p.m.) and the dance with
Oasis, Sabor Latino and Luna 70 (11 p.m.).
The activities for Saturday will start really early (7.30 a.m.)
with the amateur and semiprofessional fishing competition (Inscriptions:
Tel. 971673352 / 971671375) and will continue with a children's painting
competition in Sa Llotja (10 a.m.) and a children's fishing competition
on the quay (11.30 a.m.). At mid day the new Calle Llevant will be opened
and the day will continue with all kinds of sporting activities: petanca,
children's motocross and beach volleyball. In the evening there will
be fashion show (7.30 p.m.) dance (11.p.m.) and fireworks at midnight.
On Sunday morning there will be the start of the children's sports day
at 10 a.m., followed by the popular paella competition (Inscriptions:
Tel. 971673352.). In the afternoon the pensioner's mass, followed by the
concert by the Port d'Andratx Choir, and then folkdancing by Aires d'Andratx.
The day with finish with a play performed by AGARA (10.30 p.m.).
On Monday the official mass for the Virgen will be held at 7.30 p.m.
followed by the traditional maritime procession, the most awaited and spectacular
event of the fiestas.
The finale will be with the devil firework run on the quay by the Valencian
group Esclat (10.30 p.m.)
